The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has announced a new technical regulation in line with the Saudi Arabian government's initiative to govern the energy consumption efficiency of different product types. This regulation covers discharging water equipment and products for a variety of purposes to manage water consumption, and the technical regulation was formally implemented on January 1, 2018.
The key to the control of this regulation is the Water Flow Rate. It requires products within the scope of this regulation to apply for a water-saving registration certificate, and affix a Water use efficiency label on the product, showing the Water consumption Rate of each product.
If the products do not meet the requirements of the new regulations, they cannot obtain the COC (Certificate of Conformity), and cannot be successfully cleared and exported to Saudi Arabia.
