Since 2018, U.S. Customs has reported a number of cases in which stainless steel sink products from Asia were detained when entering the United States due to improper use of trademarks. Due to the UPC shield markings used on these products, US Customs also notified IAPMO R&T. Because the company marked on the product and the package cannot prove that it has the UPC certificate or has the right to use the relevant logo on the product, the product is detained by the customs and will face further punishment for the possible infringement of trademark information. See the link below for details:
Hereby, we remind all certificate holders to carefully read the product standards and related specifications for product labeling requirements, and then to mark the export products, to avoid losses or disputes with customers due to the above similar situations.
The standard stipulates that the certification of stainless-steel sink products marking requirements are as follows:
1. The Products themselves shall be marked with the manufacturer's company name or trademark, or with the company name or trademark already marked on the Certificate as Additional Company.
2. UPC/ CUPC logo.
3. The marking method shall be permanent and shall remain visible after installation.
The standard stipulates that the certified stainless steel sink product packaging marking requirements are as follows:
1. The packaging of the Products shall be marked with the manufacturer's company name or trademark, or with the company name or trademark already marked on the Certificate as Additional Company.
2. Product model name.
Products that do not use the UPC/ CUPC logo will not be considered certified products. Products using only the UPC/ CUPC logo without any trademark will be deemed to be in violation.
